Status of the Syriac Language

Years of Wars and Demographic changes in the Middleeast and the recent years of Islamic Terror has effected the Christian communities all together. Both Western and Eastern Syriac Speakers are getting fewer and with the increasing diaspora- the loss of the Syriac Language to the Younger Generations.

Please help us at The Abraham Collection in ur work to collect and preserve the Written Cultural Heritage of the Christian Orient. Syriac is a dialect of Aramaic, once spread over the Middleeast and spoken by Our Lord Jesus Christ. Today it is endangered and preserved by the last existing Christian Communities in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Iran.

The situation of the Christian Orient is critical and urgent due to last years of heavy persecution, which has scattered the Syriac-speaking Christians around the World. And among them- their rich and ancient Written Cultural Heritage, which no faces the risk to be lost for ever.
